I was able to get Lotus Notes 8 for Linux working on my Ubuntu desktop at work today. I am using Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn with a GNOME desktop. YMMV.

Step 1: Acquire Lotus Notes distribution

I started with the file C13NCEN.tar. You need to get this from your system administrator or from the IBM web site, if you have an appropriate login there.

It is possible to store HTML in a file named ”.XLS” and then open that in Excel. This is useful for web applications that want to export data easily into a spreadsheet, as it's a lot easier than finding an Excel file handling library and programmatically creating an Excel binary file. This method allows you to:

While the information in it is still valid, you might find a much easier procedure, or even simple one-step software to do the job at Digital Digest or VideoHelp.com. Amazon MP3 Downloads sells unencrypted, no-DRM MP3 files and their library covers thousands of artists, overlapping most of iTunes' catalog. As soon as this store existed, I decided I would never buy music online any other way again. Seems like a no brainer, but I'm listing it here because most people still don't know it exists. Don't purchase media that uses DRM!
